Diesel loco 204 774-4 represents the V 100 class of the former German State Railway, which could be seen all over the GDR on branch lines and main lines. They were used on passenger and freight trains.
Many variations exist in the V 100 class. Our loco falls in the sub-classification V100.1, differing from its earlier sisters by having a more powerful motor with an output of 1,500 HP instead of 1,200 HP.
In the service of the DR, between 1975 and 1988 our locomotive worked from Neuruppin, Rostock and Wismar and was then reallocated to Saxony-Anhalt, working from Halberstadt and Wittenberg. The DB AG transferred it to Thuringia where it worked from Saalfeld and Erfurt, finally withdrawing it from service in 2004 in Magdeburg.
On 1 December 2004 it was sold to the Mitteldeutsche Eisenbahn (MEG), where it remained active as loco number 103 until 2012. Transmission damage then put an end to its working life and in the spring of 2013, the MEG very kindly placed the locomotive in our care on long-term loan. more pictures of this vehicle |
