23.05.2017: The turntable deck is cleaned

We have already reported elsewhere that the turntable in front of former loco shed 1 was scrapped at the end of the 1990s and the turntable pit filled in. Since it is the long-term goal of the society to reinstall this facility, the first steps have already been taken. Thus we were able to acquire a turntable deck from Parchim, which is to be installed in the turntable pit of locomotive shed 1, which can be reopened as it is the right length. Now the deck has been cleaned of old paint and rust by a specialist company using a high-pressure water jet and primed. The parts can now be examined, although we do not foresee any major difficulties. The pictures show the cleaning work on 23.5.2017.
