Rod transporter

Under the window there is a rod transporter exhibited, in which one of the driving rods of a class 44 steam loco is suspended. This rod weighs about 400 kg or some 880 pounds and is thus far too heavy even for four people to carry it any distance. The design of this carrier however means that just one person can move it without undue exertion, as the weight of the rod is kept nicely in balance.
