The half-roundhouse today provides undercover accommodation for our vehicles on 16 tracks. The roofed-over area is a good 2,000 square metres. It was built in the 1920s and was in service until 1996. The location was then closed and abandoned. The majority of the installations were either removed or stolen. At the last round-up, there were neither lamps nor pipes nor windows. Finally, to secure the building the Deutsche Bahn AG used perforated panels to cover all the window openings. Eventually, the roof collapsed. Then after comprehensive restoration measures started in 2011, in 2012 the building was taken into operation as the museum you see today.
